Dell 1501 Ram upgrade not showing 2gb

computer came with 2 512 ddr2 i bought 2 1gb ddr2 g.skill and computer still shows 896mb. 256 is dedicated to video. does anyone have any ideas?

What WAS the problem? Did you just have to do the drivers?
