Since I can't get it to boot can I download Windows and an imager partition ( I know I mutilated that) onto exter. HD? And how?

Yes you can, remove the hard drive after you get a data transfer cable and you can use a memory stick or your smart phone or tablet to transfer the image or OS over to it.
