Dell e1505 screen has some light but no display

dell e1505 screen has some light but no display. works fine with external monitor. Was working fine - in a carrying case it fell off a chair onto a rug and hasn't worked since. I can see change in the screen when adjusting the brighteness (black to a dark gray).

Either Inverter or screen needs replacing with new...
