Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming very slow wifi

Recently, my laptop has been getting very slow wifi. Speedtest shows 20 Mbps when I have 250 Mbps speeds. On Ethernet it gets 250 Mbps, but on wi-fi, even right next to the router, I only receive 20 Mbps max. I updated my network driver, Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-3165, but it didn't fix anything. Another thing that is weird is that when I look at my Wi-fi status screen, it says I have 72.2 Mbps speed, but speedtest only shows 20, and when I look at the resource manager I am only using 20 Mbps speed. I am thinking this is a hardware problem unless anyone has any idea how to fix it.

could be your router did you do a factory reset? you can update router firmware

Don't think it is my router, as not only do I get slow speeds at home, but at university my wifi speed never goes above 20 Mbps, where my uni wifi is crazy fast

Actually, I'm not sure it is a hardware problem, as I used a USB wifi adapter to try and test if it was my wifi card, but my speed was still the same.

Even i had the same problem, new mobile devices showing 90 mbps but this 2in1 showing only 20, can you imagine i bought a repeater for this purpose? But then it was solved by simple updating the wifi card drivers. Try upgrading to new versions, hopefully it will be alright !
