I have a dell inspiron 1501 running windows vista 32 bit with a synaptics touchpad that is not responding
I have tried restoring the drivers and the buttons that do the left click and right click do not work/
I was able to attach a usb mouse which worked/
Any suggestions on how to restore the left and right mouse buttons?

Thanks
ben

Did you uninstall the drivers before updating them? It might be holding onto a profile that prevents it from 'responding' to the driver update. Try uninstalling the Synaptics software through control panel, then reinstall a different Synaptic driver than the one you've been using (find the previous release, then you can update to the latest release when you get the touchpad working)

I uninstalled the drivers via control panel, downloaded the latest driver from dell and re-installed the driver from dell / I also tried the generic driver from synaptics/ in both cases the navigation on the touchpad works but the buttons (left and right buttons below the pad don't work)
