Dell Inspiron 1521 LCD/Power Supply

Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 that has a dark screen when I use my power supply. If I reboot the computer and only use my battery, the LCD works properly. Any ideas as to why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.
