hi iv discovered that my laptop cought a virus that has cuaused my harddrive to crash any ideas how much a replacement harddrive would be?? x

Hello legs;

It's possible that the virus trashed the operating system (Windows) instead of crashing (damaging or destroying) your hard drive.

If that's the case you can probably get by without needing a replacement hard drive.


And if you do need a replacement hard drive any of the standard laptop 2.5" SATA 5400rpm or 7200rpm drives will work in your 1750.
Right now a replacement 500GB HDD is running about $100
Six weeks ago it would have been closer to $50. A flood in Asia damaged some major MFGRs capacity and prices have spiked.

Do you have backups of your important personal files and data?
Or do you need think about running a RescueCD to save things that can't be replaced?

The prices of Hard drives have raised upto 120%

Try to re-install the Operating System or completely format the Hard disk.

hi thank you so much for all ur advice iv been advised to restore it to factory settings but as im a girl and not that clever with this type of stuff can any one piont me in the right direction?? xx
