Dell Inspiron 5537 won't boot

When I start my laptop the power light is on, the fan is on and screen is on but there is nothing on it.
It happened before and then I would just unplug it, hold the power button for a few seconds, and a couple of minutes later it started working again. Now it does not help.

What could be the problem and what could be done?

There's nothing on the external monitor, I don't think it's a monitor problem since I can see the laptop's monitor turns on, and the keyboard does not respond (the caps lock light does not turn on) and I can't eject the dvd drive.
