Dell Inspiron M5010 (5o1r) strange problem

Hello.
i have a strange problem. if i press power button on my Dell Inspiron M5010 (AMD Athlon X2). power lights turns on i also hear DVD rom buzzing. but no Display. pressing the power button again turns off the laptop again.
but if i press the button so hard laptop turns on with display and continue loading windows there are no problem afterwards.

do you think the power button is defective ? if yes then why the lights turns on when i press it?
if not what is the problem here ?

When in doubt and if its a laptop do the following;

Remove charger and battery, now press and hold power button for 20 seconds and leave as is for 1hr+ and then reconnect battery and charger and power on. Solves innumerable issues.
