[citation][nom]maydaynomore[/nom]The only reason not to get this is: AT&T![/citation]

Not the only reason, the other reason is.. it's a Dell! lol Just hope there are no major technical issues with the phone...their customer service in general is the WORST I have ever had to deal with. Because of it, will never purchase another Dell product for the rest of my life.

I'll be available to upgrade to android 2.2 later this year, but the phone/tablet will be android 1.6 when out of the box.

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]AT&T bashers are as bad as Apple ones! In 7 years Ive never had trouble with them, Ive heard horror stories about your precious T mobile and Verizon as well as Sprint though, so what comes around goes... If your not on AT&T or never had it then dont bash something you know nothing about other than what you read here...This will be my next phone its all about who has the biggest baddest screen, your in my world now grandma! Hurry up Dell/AT&T and release the pricing info on contract already!!! Dont like it then crawl back under your rock stop wasting my time bashing something you are completely ignorant of and trying to turn others against it. This will blow the socks off your precious Evo and Droid x crapola and your hating on it because its coming to AT&T, get outta here with that garbage![/citation]

You have to understand that the network quality varies by region and device. Thus, for some of us, AT&T is truly horrible. The fact that they are limiting data usage in phone is another downside.

From experience, I can tell you 2-3 hours of netflix via tethered for 5 days is about 3 GB (or $35 for in-phone data usage with the limited plans). If the whole point of this device is to be able to stream Hulu, your Slingbox, and engage in full web browsing, then the caps based on email/mobile web browsers is insufficient - thus you'll still be stuck hunting for wifi hotspots (something I hate doing as so many have extra blocks put up on them that make them useless for a lot of what I want to do).

Now, I am not saying give unlimited data - I am saying sell tiers to your users. At $65/mo, is about 6 GB of data fair?

I guess you can't escape the morons wherever you go. Ive been following this device for months now.

The AT&T network is fine. A recent survey shows that 77% of AT&T users are happy with their service.

http://www.intomobile.com/2010/07/23/survey-shows-iphone-users-are-overall-mostly-satisfied-with-att-despite-sf-network/

Steve Jobs himself said any network they released the iphone on would have the same issues and the "issues" only manifest in the most densely populated places. I live in a major city in Texas with no issues. Too many people read the news and spew nonsense instead of getting the facts.

If you don't like Dell, by all means don't buy their products but I own around 20 Dell devices with absolutely 0 issues. Maybe if your computer isnt working properly, you should learn how to not get all the viruses and malware that you love to blame the manufacturer for.

As far as the Streak battery life goes, maybe you should read this before you start spouting garbage:

"Speaking of battery, we were impressed with the Streak’s longevity. With heavy use – Exchange sync using Touchdown, 3G turned on, and a mixture of media playback, camera use and a few calls – the tablet lasted through a full day."

http://www.slashgear.com/dell-streak-review-1289551/

Other reviews will confirm this.

I was drawn to the site and excited to read that the Streak might be released with 2.1 intead of 1.6. None of the official Dell documents I could find specify a specific Andriod OS version either way, I'm crossing my fingers.

For all your haters out there, if you don't like Dell or this awesome device then don't buy it but I can guarantee no one gives a crap about how much you hate Dell and people definitely don't need to hear you blaming a manufacturer about issues stemming from your incompitence.

The OS was confirm by Lionel something or another, the chief blogger at Dell, to be 1.6 with a 2.2 update this summer. So, it looks like just as your getting used to 1.6 (if, like me, this will be your first Android phone) the switch will happen and make everything right in your digital world.
