Desktop Freezing after ~10 mins of activity after installing a new PCIe Wifi Card. Any help is appreciated!

My computer shuts down after 10 minutes of activity no matter what I do, whether its watching a video or doing homework. It has made the computer virtually unusable beyond the 10 minutes it actually works. My Razer Synapse will freeze first always, and then the rest of the computer will eventually freeze up. It does not shut down, so I always need to manually shut it down. This happened recently after installing a new PCIe Wifi Card into my desktop and installing the drivers. I ran MalwareBytes and CC Cleaner in order to clear up any issues, but to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I am more than happy to supply any diagnostics or reports you need to evaluate my issue. Thanks in advance!

Before physically removing the card, you could try disabling it in device manager first. If that doesn't help matters, physically remove the card and see if the problem goes away.

After removing the card and resorting to an old USB-wifi adapter I have, the computer seems to be running fine now. How would the Wifi PCIe card be able to freeze my computer so severely? I ask because my internet is very slow with the usb adapter.

I can't imagine the wifi card draws more than a few watts of power, so I don't think it is a power issue. Check to see if there are any updated drivers for the card. How are your cpu temperatures? Perhaps the wifi card was blocking air flow inside your case. Do you have good cable management inside the case?

So after putting my computer to sleep last night (last night had just the usb wifi adapter, the wifi card was taken out and the computer never froze) upon using it for a little bit this morning it froze again to the point where I had to manually shut the computer down.

In response to you scout_03, I only have one PCIe slot on my MOBO, and do not have another desktop to test with.

I have an 850w PSU so I doubt the wifi card is pushing any power limits, i'm not running a supercomputer.

Any thoughts beyond what we've tried?

temp are good i would memtest ram and if you putback wi-fi card use pci-e 4 at bottom also check if the killer network driver are up to date some people had issue with these .

Okay, I have updated everything that I can, ran a memtest (with no issues), and the wifi card is at the bottom. Running smooth so far. Though weirdly, my wifi card has a much worse signal than my old usb stick. I bought a Rosewill RNX-AC1900PCIe Wifi card with 3 antennas, yet my N900 usb adapter has a better signal? I'm not sure I understand that.I have a dual band wifi network (2.4 & 5ghz) and I stick with the 5 since I want the faster speeds with my fiber internet, but my signal is surprisingly worse with the wifi card. Any recommendations on how to fix that? I see many settings in the properties of my wifi adapter but I do not know what to set for each of them.

you will have to check the card user manual also you did have install the cd for it the other thing check the router settings to maybe get another channel on 5 gig and see if wide range will boost signal .
