I am a videographer looking to upgrade my computer. I currently have a Toshiba Satellite A505 i7 . It has been great so far, but as I am upgrading my cameras, I am seeing the need for something that can handle some of the bigger files.

I only have around $600-$1000 to spend. Am I better off looking for a laptop that will be fast enough, or trying to build a desktop? Not sure if I can get the right parts and peripherals for a desktop for under $1000 that would match a laptop on a good sale.

Thoughts?

it depends on budget but it may also depend on your need more than that If you don't need to bring it around, you can get cheaper desktop. If you need to bring it outside, laptop is a must.
