Hi all, I recently spent £560 ($845) on a manufacturer refurbished Dell laptop, specs as follows;

4th gen i7 processor
1TB memory
16GB ram
2GB AMD Radeon graphics

This laptop is in fact a notebook, the link to where I bought it is here,

Basically I bought it for the purpose of video editing/rendering, YouTube & gaming.

I use the free video editing software 'Wondershare' (which is shit) my gameplay recorded with the ElgatoHD60 comes out a little blurry and basically not as good as I'd like.

Should I have bought this laptop? Does the problem lay with my graphics card, editing software?

I may re-sell the laptop & purchase a recommendation by anyone willing to help here,

Thanks for reading,

The image quality is coming from how you record it and compress it if you do. And as a side note, almost nothing will ever come out "as good as you'd like" LOL :) The specs are in line with the price although an i5 CPU and a faster video card would have been a lot better for games.

The problem may from the software ElgatoHD60 setting or the i7-4510U. Check out the review for the ElgatoHD60, like they said " Moreover, recording in 1080p60 can take quite a toll on both your hard drive space and your PC’s processor. At higher bit rates, for example, the HD60 will output video at 40Mbps, which can add up extremely fast. I also found that the device struggled to keep up when recording at max bit rate and resolution, resulting in an inconsistent video."

Or the cpu, because this i7 just has 2 cores and 4 threads ( just like the desktop i5) http://ark.intel.com/products/family/75023/4th-Generation-Intel-Core-i7-Processors#@All

You can try to use the Fraps, I know it is very popular. http://fraps.com/

I think the HD60 records at 60fps, and the editing software shows it as just under 30 I think, I'm sure somewhere along the line something doesn't add up, also the screen resolution on the notebook itself is max 1366x768, but thanks I'll see if I can change the video card somehow

Thanks for that I've now changed the Elgato to record at 1080 - 30fps instead of 60, hope that makes it a little better, was fairly concerned as its only simple minecraft hunger game footage I've captured thus far however once put into the wondershare editing software the clip doesn't look as near good as it was whilst playing, thanks for your reply
