So I'm buying a new gaming laptop, I like the portability of having one and I've been using a desktop for far too long now. It just seems easier to me at this point to invest in a gaming laptop that can compete with nice desktop rigs.
Anyway, I was getting the ASUS G74SX-A1 (http/www.jr.com/product/productDetail.jsp?Ntt=asus+g74&No=0&navProduct=asu_g74sxa1#productTabDetails) and I saw there is a G74SX-A2 (http/www.jr.com/asus/pe/ASU_G74SXA2/), and I looked at the specs and the only difference I see between them is that the A2 has 4 more GB of RAM, and the hard drives.
A1: 1.5TB (750GB x 2) 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
A2: 750GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive + 160GB SATA Solid state Drive (SSD)
So what exactly is the difference between these two hard drives? The A2 actually has less, but the 160gb HDD is solid state? So will there be a noticeable (even a tiny bit) performance increase with the A2? 750GB is plenty for me, so is 1.5TB. The only reason I'd think about getting the A2 is because of the extra ram. If the hard drive on the A2 and the extra RAM will make a slight difference in gaming and/or general browsing then I'll spend the extra $200. Otherwise if not I'd rather save some money and get a little more HDD space.
Thanks.
