Digital Audio S/PDIF light on all time can be damaged?

Hi, I was wondering if the Digital Audio S/PDIF light can be damaged if is all time on.

This is because I have a Macbook Pro late 2009 running Windows and it have a driver compatibility issue with the sound.
It comes off if the sound driver is disabled.

Not really; that light is how the audio is transmitted.
