Here is how you can disable automatic restart on your Windows 8 laptop:
- ■Log on to your Windows 8 laptop with the administrator account.
■Click the Desktop tile once you are on the Start screen.
■From the taskbar that is present at the bottom of the desktop window, click the File Explorer icon.
■Once the This PC window opens up, from the navigation pane in the left, right-click the This PC tree.
■From the context menu that appears, click Properties.
■On the opened System window, under the Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings section, click the Change settings link.
■From the opened System Properties box, go to the Advanced tab.
■From the displayed interface, from the Startup and Recovery section, click the Settings button.
■On the Startup and Recovery box that comes up, under the System failure section, uncheck the Automatic restart checkbox.
■Once this is done, click OK, and back on the System Properties box, click OK again.
■Once you are back on the desktop window, restart the computer in order to allow the changes to take effect.
