can I use direct tv antenna for dish tv?
I have on in my back yard, but I have a dish receiver

I think you need a different LNB at least.

The parabolic piece that mounts on the roof you can reuse as it makes no difference.

The part that extneds out and points back at the dish will need to be vendor speccific as they dont use the exact same frequency.

I have never heard of dish charging for the antenna. They are going to provide with the means of accessing their service so they can charge you money.

Are you talking about the dishtv receivers in NZ or somewhere else? And are you talking about a UHF receiver or a satellite receiver?

And you dont pay for dishtv here. If the Op is talking about NZ

The dish itself probably does not have any difference, but LNBs are likely different.
