Okay, I'm at wit's end here. This has been happening for the past three weeks or so. I haven't changed anything and even going back to a restore point from before this doesn't help.Every so often when I select something from a drop down menu using my mouse, doesn't matter what program, which monitor I use (I run two. The native 19" laptop monitor at 1920x1080, and a 27" LCD TV/Monitor at 1360x768 set as primary) and doesn't matter how little or how long the computer's on; whatever I select stays selected like you see in the picture, and every program that runs after this happens and before I clear it sits underneath the selection. The ONLY way I found that fixes it (aside from rebooting) is to mess with my display settings so the screens have to reorient themselves. I would try googling this, but what would I google?

Asus N90Sv laptop running Windows 7 Home Edition Premium 64 bit; Intel Core2 Duo CPU @2.8GHz; 4GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M; and two 600GB HD. It is about 4 years old and will be getting replaced in about a yearish if finances hold out.

As a thank you for this, I present Jonas Armstrong as Robin Hood (one of my many revolving desktop pics)

The picture's here...

Okay, I'm real impressed - you managed to screw something up big time! 😛

Did a little searching, and found this...
Did that and went back to some icons I'm making, and selected something from a menu just to see, and the selection's Windows XP cousin is sitting quite proudly watching me while I reply.

Dunno if this changes things but I can go through the whole process up to and just before the actual clicking, instead moving down to whatever I want to click with the arrow keys and select it with enter to no consequence. No selection sitting on top of everything, no problem what so ever. But click it? Chances are it stays clicked long after the program's done closed and all that.

Huh. Now that's somewhat surprising.

The fact that you can select it with enter, but not with a click, makes me suspicious. When did you last check for viruses, and what tools did you use to do so?

I have Norton running in the background but I also use Spybot and AdAware both to sweep for things about once or twice a month. The last time I did that was about two days after this started, so about 2-3 weeks ago.

I almost wonder if it's not something with my mouse. I'm using a Razer Naga Epic. I don't have a spare to try and the laptop mouse is disabled (I did that on purpose when I connected the Naga) but I don't see how the mouse itself would change anything.

EDIT: Okay, just tested the laptop trackpad mouse and it does the same thing as the Naga. When I find a problem, I really know how to find em! :/

Thank you DarkSable! You are a godsend! It fixed it!

Also, Brett, I did try that after checking my drivers, thinking that it might have something to do with the LCD monitor I'm using.
