Solved! Do I connect my Home theater system to the sat receiver as well at the tv?

I am a complete dummy when it comes to this.
I have the sat reciever connected to tv with hdmi cable
The sound system is also connected to tv with hdmi,.
Do I connect the sound system to the sat receiver also?

Your HDMI connection from Sat. delivers Video and sound
"The sound system is also connected to tv with hdmi,. " - You are using the TV speakers to listen to your music? Or is the sound system to listen to your video's playing on TV ?
Model numbers of TV and Sat receiver will help to clarify.

The TV is Sony KDL-46EX600 (Model #)
Dish Network receiver is R191119280 (Model #)
The Sound system is aDAV-HDX265

I have the tv set to automatically turn on the sound system speakers when it starts up. They are both Bravia capable.

Just follow the the connections for HDMI in the pictures below.
Connect all your devices through the receiver.

The manual linked to above doesn't seem to match your HTS.
The Sony is an old HTS system and doesn't have HDMI inputs. The HDMI output is for disc playback only.
Hook it up as follows.

1. Sat Receiver to TV with HDMI (for DVD playback only)
2. TV analog audio output to HTS TV/Video audio input.
