Does a dual lnbf have dual antennas/components?

Ordered a single universal lnbf, supplier shipped dual lnbf. Does a
dual lnbf have two separate antennas and two separate set of components
inside and require power from two different receivers?

I intend to only have one ku fta receiver and one ku dish. What can
I use the second output for, besides a backup?

rose,
I think of the lnbf as that portion of the antenna comprised of active
electronics. The dish is a lens that gathers, focuses, and then reflects the
received signal, to the lnbf. Dish specs often refer to "optics" when
describing the dish in tech terms. With 2 outputs, you could add a second
receiver to get signals from the same bird. So in your case, yes it's
effectively a spare. But, should you suffer a lightning strike, it's likely
you'll lose both at the same time whether in use or not. Power to the lnbf
is provided by the receiver in most cases. Most setup menus allow you to
choose whether or not the receiver will supply power to the lnbf.
It's not what you ordered, but the supplier has inadvertently provided
you with an option. You may well want to take advantage of the possibility
in the future. And don't forget that with a universal lnbf, you'll need to
enter 2 different local oscillator frequencies in your receiver's lnb setup.
I think those are 9750 and 10600 mhz. What bird were you planning on
watching? You've clearly given much thought to your needs. Please advise of
your progress when you get up and running.

Regards

Depends what sort of LNBF it is. If itis the old P* style H/V switch,
you need 13/18V switch, otherwise you can use just one.
I'd raise the issue of the error with the vendor/shipper though.
