You don't match the sub to the receiver. You match it to the room, your volume requirements and the main speakers.
You want a front firing speaker rather than a bottom firing one or one that is enclosed in the cabinet with all the sound coming out of the port (bandpass). The Onkyo may be the last kind. I would get a Polk in that price range.
