Does vram increase fps?

I'm using lenovo g40-45 and i play overwatch. It's gpu is radeon R5 2gb
If i add more ram and use ram for vram does it will increase my fps?

Not really. You'll see some stuttering and the like if you don't have sufficient VRAM, but it's not something that makes the GPU work faster. And in your case, it's unlikely your GPU can really make much good use of more.

You already have 2GB and we know that VRAM is faster than system RAM. So, no it won't make it run faster.

The only time this would work out to be faster would be if you had an old DDR3 (or lower) graphics card that had less VRAM than the amount that your games are trying to use. Since you already have 2GB and the card is likely equipped with GDDR5, your VRAM is much faster than system RAM.

can i first ask you to check your laptop has the r5 gpu? a friend of mine bought one but lenovo didnt actually put a gpu in his g50-45

I did a quick search on that model Lenovo, I did not find any review or information that suggested it has good game performance. Apparently it was a low budget general purpose laptop. Integrated graphics generally use system ram for vram, which means if you have 4gb system ram and your R5 uses 2gb then you really only have 2gb of system ram for your games. Adding more ram may help in that situation. Let me be clear though, your framerate will be the same. Adding ram will help smooth out any stutters in the game when memory runs low and the computer must use the pagefile(aka swapfile).

So, for example, if you were getting 30fps in the game with some stuttering in the game, after adding more ram you'll still be getting 30fps but now it might be a smoother 30fps without so much stutters.

In your case no as it is a low end gpu. Having more vram will help you play games at higher settings and resolutions. But this is reserved for higher end gpus. Also you can't add vram to your laptop, only ram.
