Not sure I'm posting this in the right section but I downloaded a friends site using ctrl +s and noticed that there were a whole lot of links to porn sites - his site is a law firm. I thought it was odd so I downloaded the site using wget and there were no links to external sites. So I downloaded another random site using ctrl + s again and that site had the same links to porn sites. Downloaded using Chrome and Opera (they both show links but they show different links to each other). Kaspersky shows no viruses and Malwarebytes shows no malware. Any suggestions?

First tell your friend so he can take action with respect to his website and whoever is managing the website.

Certainly seems to be a security breech somewhere and the porn sites may simply be a cover for more nefarious activities: e.g., accessing confidential client records.

Not sure why wget shows no external links - the perp's may simply be able to hide themselves against detection therein while other tools or browsers find them or some of them with a different mix. A Linux person may be able to address such possibilities.

In any case, tell your friend.

I know this query was a couple of months ago but I found the culprit behind the issue. Kaspersky had installed its extension on Chrome and for some reason, this was injecting malicious code into all the sites I visit. Not sure whether this is intentional to block all the sites they listed (I would imagine this is unlikely) or a major flaw in their software. Anyway, if you have Kaspersky, check if you also have the Kaspersky extension installed and remove it.
