Drivers or Optimization?

Hi! I have a Dell 15 3537 laptop. CPU: Core i7-4500U 2-Core 1.8GHz, GPU: Radeon HD 8850M 2GB GDDR5, RAM: 8GB.

The problem is, a lot of the games that should run on high or ultra settings, are running on low fps. (NOTE: I'm talking about small(ish) studios, not the companies like Ubisoft or EA, their games run great).

So i want to know if the games are just badly optimized for AMD (especially mine)graphic cards or am I not using the right driver.

Some of the games that didn't run propperlly: Borderlands 2, the new Risen 3 (recently released), Fallout New Vegas,Skyrim. All these games had to be played on the integrated graphic card.

It could be a driver issue, you might need to reinstall.

I have a very similar laptop; 15.6" Dell Latitude 3540 with the i5-4200u, but has the same GPU. I'll try installing Skyrim over the weekend to see how it performs. I have Fallout: NW, but it must have been misplaced somewhere when I moved.

Yes it has! I play the listed games on the integrated GPU instead of the AMD GPU.

On both Skyrim and Fallout the fps dropped significantly when playing on the AMD HD 8850M, and running smoothly on the Intel integrated GPU.
