Solved! Dvd/cd drive not working,

Hello,
I put a brand new cd/dvd drive in my hp laptop running Vista. Nothing works. There is no power? I can't even open it. Same problem as the old drive. Not detected in Device manager, either. Is this a power problem?

It sounds like it could be an issue with the motherboard. If the old one was acting the same way as the new one, it seems like there may be a bad connection on the motherboard somewhere.
