edit an application?

i need to edit an application's text to make it say what i want temporarily i was wondering how i can do that?

Go to school, learn the language it is programmed in and edit it.

This is not an easy task, and it might be (close to) impossible if application developers were smart.

In Windows, usually texts and icons are stored in so called "resources", so Google/Bing for "Resource Editor", and try your luck.
But if this is a game, most probably you have no luck You can try looking over application' files with binary editor like this one, but might end up looking at hundreds of files.
