Elgato Lag Help

I recently got the elgato gamecapture hd for my ps3. When I plug it in there is a delay on the laptop but no delay on the TV. Then the frames start dropping and the pc doesn't show the picture moving, only the tv. I saw that you have to have 2.0 ghz for the system requirements but i only have 1.40. Is there anything i can do to stop making it lag without upgrading my cpu?

try recording at lower resolution perhaps

but i dont want to record at lower resolution.
Just want a laptop that will record on HD without facing any problems.
