Hi i have a emachine e440 laptop and its not powering up. When you plug the ac cord the light indicator indicates that there is power in the board .but it wont boot fan wont move no activity i have it stripped with main conectors plugged . I tried the holding button for 45 secs and 1 min with no battery and ac then plugging ac only still no response even holding button and plugging ac while holding button no response power light on button lights up but board has no response

Solution
If the cord is fine and if you tested the battery and it is fine, then you are going to have to determine where the power stops once it hits the computer.

Note: Lights on doesn't mean the correct power is getting through. A charger can put some power through, but not enough to actually run the device and charge the battery or not enough to start up the device. The battery can also have only enough power to do part of what it should rather than all. In any case, just seeing lights on doesn't mean they are working correctly. You would have to actually test the items.
Try the following and see if it will turn on...

1. Unplug your charger cord.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the "Power" button for 30 seconds.
4. Now plug back in the power/charger cord.
5. Now put the battery back in.

If this doesn't help, then test the power cord to see if it is good. Either try your cord in another device, or try another devices cord in your laptop. You may also want to try charging it when the device is off, rather than on. If it works then, the cord is probably the issue.

Should that not be the problem, then check the battery to see if it needs replacing.

The charger is working the light on adapter is on to indicate power flow . The power jack and board is receiving power because the battery/power light on bottom of laptop comes on . And the power button light comes on with and with out battery by means of the ac plug but the board just refuses to boot and holding the power button trick does not work
