Solved! Ematic converter No audio on mp4 movies

Hello,
on my ematic at103b digital converter box, when I playback movies from the USB (either mp4 or mkv), I get only video but no audio. Every other playback (mp3, recorded mts videos, TV) works fine.
Any suggestion as to how troubleshoot this problem?

mp4 is a format (or encoding). there are many encoding options for mpeg4.

mkv is not a format. It is a container.

Trial and error is one option. Another is interweb searching the model yourself to find the supported formats.

Under video decoding, page 18, are some hints. To discover the encoding of your video files I suggest MediaInfo, a free app.
