hi guys, I'm thinking of getting an Ideapad 700 (not Y700). it has i7 6700hq cpu and gtx950m. the battery apparently only lasts an hour plus with its "3 Cell 45 Watt Hour". the price to pay for slimness. That's what I like about it, it's slim and has powerful cpu, and gorgeous screen.

So I'm thinking if getting the Energizer XP18000A external battery which is big to supplement the ideapad 700. So can anyone tell me if it's a stupid decision? How do you calculate the theoretical hours that the energizer can give me ?

Solution
It is going to depend on Power usage of your system based on how long the battery in the system lasts at 45 Watt hour the Energizer should last you about 4.8hrs. This is assuming the computer uses 45W/hr @ 12V so the math for doing this is
Comp usage = 45W
Battery Ah = 18
Battery Voltage supplied = 12V
Battery Watt Hour = Batt Ah * Batt V = 18*12 = 218W/hr
Time Batt will last = Batt Watt hour / Comp Usage = 218W/hr / 45W = 4.8hr

Hope that helps.
