Error code 1009

My phone is showing
Secure booting error
Code 1009

I did a factory reset and when it came back on it is now stuck on the Sprint screen. Is there anything I can do??

A little background... This was my brother's phone who killed himself but left his phone to me. But it was locked. I was told I could perform a factory reset and be able to use it (??) That was not the case. Please help me this is the only thing I have of my brother's and it means a lot to me...

That would only happen with a rooted device. Sadly, to unroot it would cause loss of data. Also, we cannot help with bypassing any password issues.
