Hi,

Which exact SSD type comes built in within the model Asus ROG GL552vw

https://www.asus.com/in/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-GL552VW/

Is it the 6Gbit/sec ssd with read speed around ~ 500mb/sec

Or is it the Pcie express based ssd 10Gbit/sec with read speed ~ 2200 mb/sec

Reference study regarding various SSDs: https://rog.asus.com/articles/product-news/ssd-guide-pci-express-m-2-msata-and-sata-express-the-differences-explained/#

Regards.

well looking at the tab called "specifications on that very pretty web page you liked to it clearly states the ssd is
- 1TB HDD With 128 G SSD SSD (M.2 2280) <- now google this to discover the speed
and discover a zillion questions answered except the one your looking for https://www.kingston.com/us/ssd/system-builder/m2_faq
why because that web site does not identify exactly what model and brand of SSD M.2 they are using therefore we are unable to answer if it is an M.2 2280 PCIE or SATA.

First of all, thanks for the reply.

Yes, thats what the problem is.

Recently in the process of looking out for a best config, have come across this situation where brands advertise as SSD, but do not specify exactly if it is pcie express based, or sata ssd.

Obviously because there's a huge cost difference.

India prices
128 gb ssd - 5k (sata), 11.5k (pcie)
256 gb ssd - 6.8k (sata), 19.5k (pcie)
.. and so on

So brands can simply mention "SSD" (which is obviously better than HDD).
And not really go into the details.

Infact MSI advertise on their webpage, as if all there laptops, including the starting models (gl, gp series) have pcie express based ssds, but in reality, the starting laptops are without ssds, and many which have ssds, have the lower read speed one, and not the pcie express.
This seems simply a marketing thing, a lesser researched person may never know !

Regards.
