So Tom’s wrote an article about another article that said that computer games caused rickets with ought actually checking up on the original research paper. That’s not journalism that’s uninformed blogging masquerading as journalism. Please do us the common courtesy of doing some basic background checking before publishing articles, Tom’s standards have been dropping quite badly since they were bought by SO CALLED Best of Media. The original article made the assumption that kids are staying indoors because they’re playing computer games. Depending on the bias of the reporter the conclusion could have been that kids watch to much TV, that easy access to porn is keeping kids at the computer and away from the sun, or that kids are reading much more today and that books are to blame for weak bones. This is why I hate journalists, they’ll take every opportunity to spread fear, sensationalism, misinformation or their own misguided, ignorant opinion over the facts or educating the public every time.

Erm, changing ethnic environment is most likely the cause of these skewed statistics. I.e. an influx of 'darkies' who are less able to absorb vitamin D through their skin.

These people come from extremely sunny environments where they spend almost all their time outside. And they move into places like Sheffield, where the sun hasn't been seen directly since 1903.

+1 for anyone asking what this world is coming to. I get a sinking feeling had this been in the U.S. then it would have been tagged as racist because it suggests differences between races. It's a sad sad world now.

[citation][nom]impulse fire911[/nom]Obvious news is obvious[/citation]

As obvious as it was, it's the proposed assault on video games as mentioned previously that caused an uproar here. They cleared that up by saying what everyone here was saying. I won't complain.

[citation][nom]djcoolmasterx[/nom]Its the media's sloppy reporting of these studies that is worthless. So easy for them to misrepresent data, take things out of context and generally jump to rediculous conclusions for the sake of sensationalism.[/citation]
Don't 99% of studies have an agenda to begin with?
