External speaker's to connect to my monitor

Hey guys,

So I usually connect my PC to my monitor (via HDMI) and connect my speakers to the PC, so sound comes out of the speakers.

I have tried to connect my speakers to my monitor so when I play Xbox the sound come's out of the speakers but my monitor only has ''audio in'' connector, so when i tried this it didn't work.

I want to be able to have my speakers plugged into the monitor so the whenever Im playing Xbox or PC the audio plays through the speakers by default.

Would i have to buy a new monitor with a green 3.5 audio jack for it to work?

Cheaper than a new monitor would be a HDMI audio extractor such as this:

Is there not a way where I can cancel the audio going through the HDMI? And through the audio jack instead?

You can just turn off the volume of the device receiving the HDMI signal and turn it up on the device you plug in to the audio jack.
