[citation][nom]tsnorquist[/nom]What's next, a movie about twitter... c'mon Hollywood.[/citation]

I can see the movie slogan now:
"You can't say something in 140 words without making a few enemies"

I saw the movie yesterday, it was a great movie. But I felt depressed cuz all the computer scientists there are like 100 times better than me. 🙁

People ragging on Avatar makes me laugh. Of course the plot is predictable. It is the special effects and "feel" of the whole world they created that was so impressive. The plot was just an afterthought.

Why lol be and individual and not a yuppie. Life isn't about subscribing to group think and being a carbon copy of the moron next to you but being someone who stands out no matter what.

Facebook... was forced to make an account, only go on when someone sends me a private message, or about once every two weeks. why do people like the damn thing so much?

[citation][nom]mgilbert[/nom]... And some suck, like American Beauty, and There's Something About Mary...[/citation]

Umm... American Beauty = awesome movie. Easily better than Titanic in every way which you listed as a "great" movie.

Something about Mary had it's moments too, not so great a movie but it was memorable.

Oh well, different people have different tastes.

[citation][nom]ryanjm[/nom]You people talking shit about this movie are comical. It's one of the best of the year, easily. Incredibly entertaining and an interesting take on the creation of something that almost everyone under 30 uses.[/citation]
I don't want to jump the gun or anything, but that statement is basically full of shit.
See you in 30 years.
If this movie is mentioned alongside films like "On The Waterfront" or "Citizen Kane" I will show my backside in Macy's front window.
Exactly how are you rating this movies excellence?
Story? - Bogus, even Mark Zuckerberg said it wasn't accurate
Direction? - Fincher is good but even Spielberg had the occasional stinker
Soundtrack? - Trent Reznor will never get an Oscar for anything
Acting? - Justin Timberlake, give me a break

No serious film critic is going to rate this above 3 stars out of 5 and in 12 months time it will join a long list of films that no-one ever remembers

OK, so maybe i'm being mean and trying to pass it too high, after all not every movie in the world can be "All The President's Men" or "Gone With The Wind" but not only is it not a great movie, it's not even particularly a good movie - and the hook being that because 500 million people use Facebook so I should watch it is so stupid I couldn't even being to start tearing holes in that idea, maybe I should start with a film about the formation of Microsoft, or Ford, or IBM. Soporic, boring, dull, relentless trash.

Either provide me with an intelligent masterpiece that film lovers will cherish for decades or give me a mindless action movie laced with CGI - but a pseudo-biopic where the plot is made up and the actors are Z-list at best is not ticking a lot of boxes for me.

I have no intention of seeing this movie. Not because it is popular (though I haven't seen Titanic either, for the same reasons) but because the subject matter is of zero interest to me. Not to mention that it is supposed to tell the story of how Facebook came to be, but then zuckerberg himself says it's not all that accurate. I hate stories 'inspired by true events' or however they put it, as there is little to no truth involved so they are just saying that to suck people in.

Also, I find the vast majority of over-hyped movies are usually disappointing. Case in point, when the first Spider-man movie came out, everyone said how awesome it was, then I saw it a few months later and it was really nothing special.

[citation][nom]mgilbert[/nom]What is it with you people that think that, because something is popular, it can't be worth watching? What a stupid philosophy. The only person you hurt is yourself! Like everything, some popular movies are great - Titanic, Star Wars, for example... And some suck, like American Beauty, and There's Something About Mary...Get your arrogant asses off your high horses. You are no better than the rest of us.[/citation]

Or maybe its not something that some of us are interested in. So go get off your arrogant ass of your high horse while youre at it...

One should think a little before opening your mouth and making yourself look totally stupid.

If you had bothered to even go to RT (Rotten Tomatoes since you obviously didn't get it) you could read the actual critic comments. Real critics, not Tom's critics. 41 critics and an average rating of 9.5 out of 10.
