I have a Toshiba satellite c50 on Windows 8.1 I've tried to factory reset using the 0 & power button left over night and it still on 54%.

It's very risky to start the process again. If you have data you don't want to lose,
Open up the case and remove the hard disk. Buy another and install Windows 10 and you should be entitled to own it.
Download 10 from the MS site and you will probably activate it straight away when you restart to compete the installation..
