Hello I just recently bought this laptop and have noticed that the fan now seems to be running constantly I was wondering if I could upgrade the fan or heat sink to possibly resolve this problem. I tried to vacuum the area around the fan that seemed to help a little but I'm looking for sometime that would hopefully let it run cooler. I also applied some Arctic silver but maybe I didn't apply enough. Thanks

Hello curt31;

What were your system temps before your maintenance work? What are your system temps like now?
What was on the CPU/GPU before you applied the AS thermal compound?

Unlikely you can upgrade the heat sink or fan assembly. But if you can find a Studio 15z forum you can see what other owners are doing for their laptops.

Hi I actually don't think the temp monitoring software I've tried is really working correctly, but I'll take your advise and check out the Dell support forums maybe someone over there has the same problem as you suggested. How often should your fan cycle on or off while just web surfing this is an i5 processor. Thanks

Hi maybe someone could please address this question when just web surfing this laptop has a i5 processor I wouldn't think that would require the fan to run on high should it? And in a room say 78 f should the fan be running at all or to what degree. Think I read somewhere that it might be the heat sink. :heink:
