[citation][nom]specter0420[/nom]http://www.islam101.com/quran/yusufAli/index.htm has the translation you spoke of. It says the same as the other two, just uses slightly different wording... Did you read any of the quotes i posted??? Go read 8:12, it's directed at people who openly oppose the word of allah (unbelievers)! It talks of splitting fingers (torture) and beheading (killing but cutting off the head) of people that appose islam! Open your eyes, read the book, make your own judgements![/citation]

If you had read anything before or after your quote you would realize this passage is talking about war and when being attacked. Islam never claimed to be a pacifistic religion. You should also make note that the Quran distinguishes between Muslims and Believers. A Muslim is not necessarily a Believer nor is a Believer necessarily a Muslim.
It says if you are attacked do not turn, do not run (unless part of strategy), continue to fight until you win or the other side yields. Nowhere does it say to randomly go about murdering people.

qft. Also would like to add the vast majority who believe they're supposed to go about killing heathens have never actually read the Quran. I've known a few in my time. They tend to buckle rapidly when you brace them with the facts though.

No, I rather enjoy living here. We've got a powerful economy (even though it's not at the level it was), and we have a fair and organized government.

Completely absurd and ignorant.

The useless bigotry here is fascinating.

DID YOU KNOW that the original text of the Bible is MASSIVELY different from the retarded translations everyone reads today?

For example, the verse on "Killing witches" [Exodus 22:18] in the original Hebrew means to kill someone that would use magic to harm others. So it does not mean to find Wiccans [who couldn't have even existed at the time anyway] and kill them, funnily enough, it means that witchcraft is real and it's perfectly okay to use it as long as you don't hurt anyone. [http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_bibl2.htm though this is NOT my only source, I study original translations myself.] Because of greed/fear/stupidity, thousands of "witches" were killed in the name of this law.

Why on earth do you think it couldn't be possible that the SAME THING would happen to the Quran?

Check out these verses from the most popular [and probably worst] translation. Even the awful, controversial version of the book has many verses that take a defensive stance.

To the guy stating that all the sword verses come later and so they're the "correct" ones, one of the last verses in that version of the Quran specifically says that if people are willing to leave you alone, you should leave them alone.

Keep in mind that is probably the most tampered with, mind-controlling, broken version of the Quran.

YES there are Muslims that truly believe you're supposed to kill others. NO they don't have to believe that to be Muslim. Do NOT blanket an entire religion with your stupidity.

The Bible as you know it is just as tampered with. I've been doing religious studies for 20 years, and there is not a single chapter in the NIV or King James Bible that are not significantly altered.

tl;dr I'm an atheist but I'm defending the Quran from retards.

I highly doubt you have seen the original text for all the verses in the Bible. I also doubt that you're fluent in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, so you can't claim first hand knowledge of the original texts. So please refrain from the BS you're spewing.

Profiling isn't illegal. It's actually a tool that's employed by most every law enforcement agency in the US. The idea is to look at the stats, and place your resources in the best place to find the danger.

Since my original post is apparently deleted, thanks for letting it live on. And no, I haven't read original texts of every verse; I'm saying that I've seen at least one verse from every book that is patently false.

[citation][nom]misterles[/nom]When ignorant people write comments on a subject they know nothing about can be a scary thing. There is much more to this story then the article writer chose to include by choice or not. Do you actually think the US Gov puts a tracking device on every car driven by a Muslim? The black suits obviously had a reason and because of them and others like them we have avoided another 911. While you are worried about a tracking device there are radical Muslims plotting to kill you and your family. The only thing that stand between them and you is the hard work of the guys in the black suits and others like them. Don't act like you are intelligent enough to know what is best for us in the USA. Stand back and let the people that do know do their job and be grateful that they do it and are trying their best to keep us safe. While you complain about rights, there are those that would take away your basic right, the right to live.[/citation]

LOL like I care. They cannot do anything significant. Terrorism is not a real threat compared to lets say the common flu.

If I was in his shoes I would have refused to give "my" tracking device to the fbi. As the legal registered owner of a motor vehicle the owner is legally responsible of any materials or appurtenances located on or in the vehicle. That means for example that if you loan a car to somebody and they get pulled over and say drugs are found in the trunk, The registered owner can be arrested for the drugs even if not there at time of search. The PR nightmare of the fbi losing the device in court would be priceless. Also the threat "We’re going to make this much more difficult for you if you don’t cooperate." is harrassment in itself and if I was able to prove that they were able to follow through with it in any way, I would be filing a multimillion dollar lawsuit.

So if it really was a tracking device, that they needed back, couldn't they just track it break into his place and retrieve it when he isn't around? Then they don't completely blow their cover.
