Guys i wanted to ask this before buying anything .

If i Get Full HD Laptop and downscale it to HD will it look the same as if i had an HD laptop or it will look more blurry compared to a laptop that has native HD resolution ?

(( FHD Downscaled to HD )) VS (( Native HD ))

Solution
Generally speaking, your laptop will only be guaranteed to work with specific LCD panel model numbers that the Lenovo uses for their laptops. If you want to use a 1920x1080, then you must research around what 1080p screens are compatible with it. The Y50-70 is not offered with a 1366x768 screen so if you just drop in a random 768p screen there is no guarantee it will work with your laptop.

The same can be said for your girlfriend's laptop, but more importantly since the Y510p has not been designed with a QHD in the first place, it unlikely to deliver enough power for the QHD screen to even turn on.

Your best option is to basically sell your laptop then buy another one with the resolution you want. I generally recommend people to buy a...
Thanks but are you 100% sure ? because i currently have an UHD laptop and when i downscale it to FHD or HD it looks blurry and edges are aliased . but maybe the same thing doesnt go for FHD to HD

1.is there any tricky way i can make it not to run blurry on HD resolution ?

2.i currently have Y5070 and i was wondering if i can get HD panel on it or find a Y5070 that comes with HD panel

Hello,

As said above, the only way to attain the best image quality is to use the native resolution of the display. However, you must not experience any problems going from UHD resolution (3840x2160) to FHD resolution (1920x1080), as UHD employs exactly 4x more pixels. Check the refresh rate, it should be 60Hz.

What kind of issues are you having with your laptop? Not enough graphics power or just sub-par image quality?

Whenever you lower the resolution from the screen's native resolution graphics and text will look a little blurry. This has to do with the fact that there is a fixed number of pixels on the screen and they are always in the same position. When you lower the resolution below native resolution the graphics controller must do something called interpolation to estimate where pixels must be placed on the screen. It is this process which causes graphics and texts to look less sharp compared to when using the screen at it's native resolution and it is a limitation of all LCD and plasma displays.

Technically speaking, if you want to get the sharpest graphics and text on a LCD screen when you use less than native resolution, then you must divide the resolution by an even whole number; specifically by 2 or 4 for higher resolutions. That means using 960x510 resolution with a 1920x1020 resolution screen, but most games do not allow you to set an custom resolution like that.

Thank you for your detailed explanation . so since i cant downscale and expect it to perform exactly like the one with native res then i guess there is nothing left to do but replace my panel . i bought this Lenovo Y5070 that came with UHD ( 4K ) panel and didnt know it was locked on 48Hz and thats horrible . i love HD Panels ( 1366x768 ) because they are not demanding at all on notebooks . but i dont know if i can get one for my self .

my Girlfriend has Lenovo Y510P ( HD Panel ) and i have Lenovo Y5070 with UHD one . is there any chance we can trade panels by the help of 30 pin to 40 pin converters and such stuff ??? or can i atleast find Full HD panel and replace it with my UHD one ?

Your best option is to basically sell your laptop then buy another one with the resolution you want. I generally recommend people to buy a laptop with 1080p screen even if it does not have a GPU capable of maxing out games at that resolution because when you do work / schoolwork with your laptop (especially when multitasking) 1080p is very useful because you can more information on the screen at once compared to a 768p screen.

The drop in graphics quality when playing games at less than native resolution is not bad. If you have ever played a console game on a HDTV then you have already seen interpolated graphics. That is because games are rendered at a lower resolution then stretched to fill a 1080p screen. The loss in graphics quality is worse in this case because the graphics are being stretched apart and interpolated rather than being condensed and interpolated.

The Xbox One is too weak to render most games natively at 1080p; the many of the games are rendered at 768p or 900p then upscaled to 1080p. The PS4 is more powerful than the Xbone, but not all games are actually rendered at 1008p. A few games are rendered at 900p, then stretched to fit a 1080p screen. Older consoles definitely rendered games at 720p or 768p.

well yes selling is the best option . company might take it back or trade it with FHD one because i just bought it and didn't know about that 48Hz lock which is stupid . i open this thread to plan my option B ( if i couldnt return or sell it at reasonable price ) . i researched man and i didn't get a clear answer but i read somewhere about people downgrading their Panels from UHD to FHD for maybe the same reason i have but i heard they do . as for connecting my girlfriends panel which is 40pin but the same size as mine but with 30 pin i guess there are converters that can do the trick . ill go ask around in shops and see if i can do such thing , sounds stupid but might actually work . but i guess chances of FHD panel working is much higher . anyway thanks alot . and if you guys ever found out anything about the possibility of getting and HD panel to work on my notebook or anything else related to my problem then please do tell .

right now im trying to sell this thing and i hope i wont have to go with plan B or even worse plan C which is accepting as it is 🙁

thanks alot guys ;D
