Fire tv to big screen projector

I have a fire tv and am wondering why i I don't have picture or sound. It's hdmi hook up and up at the projector it's hooked into the hdmi port.

Make and model of the projector would be helpful.
Try plugging the Fire TV into another TV to make sure that it is OK.
Check the video resolution and set it to the native resolution of the projector.
Try a different HDMI cable.
