follow that cursor

Hi, I have an infuriating problem - when typing a document or writing and e-mail if I pause for more than a couple of seconds and resume typing the words come from where the cursor is (often quite randomly ) on the screen. It seems almost as though the computer has responded to me placing the cursor in a specific place and clicking even though I have not done this. Is there a cursor setting that prevents this type of unwanted action? Many thanks

This is almost always someone hitting the touchpad of a laptop while typing. Try typing with an external keyboard and mouse and see if the issue goes away, or disable the touchpad and check things then.
