Future proof VR build

so i've been doing some research on VR builds and found this one,

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
GPU: GeForce GTX 1070
Motherboard: MSI B350M Gaming Pro
Storage 1: Crucial MX300 275GB
Storage 2: Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
Power Supply: EVGA GQ 650W
RAM: 16 GB DDR4
Case: Corsair Carbide 270R

Just wanted to get some feedback on whether or not this will be good for playing pretty much any VR game at high FPS? And also how future proof will this be? Don't really want to end up buying new gear in 1.5 years to play any games.

Thanks!

I'm not sure how future proof the Ryzen CPU is, however I do believe that you should be fine for another 2-3, maybe even 4 years. People haven't had Ryzens long enough to test its longevity, but theoretically should be fine.

I would personally wait for a Volta GPU - likely to get 12GB or 16GB for a similar price as the 1070 in just a few months.

Agree with previous post about Ryzen - should work fine unless unexpected happens.

well a 1070 for vr is already stressing out. I know the flaming will start but the NCAT testing here shows how many frames are rendered and how many are copied from the old buffer. 1060/970 50% of the time 1070/980 75% of the time 1080/980ti 85% Titanx/1080ti TitanXp 99.9% So for your future proof is also based on how much you want to spend. I like the Ryzen I think that 1300+ LGA will stay around a bit. As for the 1070 I have a keen eye and I saw some flickering or Frame drops. That was on a 6700k. I didn't upgrade mycpu 3770k but paired a 1080ti to it. The flickering is gone and I don't have that sicking FPS drop. So I would say at LEAST a 1080. It is only a 100 bucks. That should be close to the 1170... when they come out.

You're never going to be fully future-proof. Better to focus on what gives a good experience now, at a good price/performance ratio. The GTX 1070 is appropriate in that context.

For VR, the other components matter a lot less. The Ryzen CPU should be plenty for a long time to come.
