My 6 year old nephew comes over to play the Wii and on occasion comes to a point in the game where he asks an adult for help, this will be nice so he can get through the more frustrating parts for him. I think it's useful. Thanks Nintendo.

Nintendo (to me at least) has been leaning towards the younger audience. So I can see how this would be a nice feature for a 3yo who can't finger out a "complex" part of a game.

I wish I had it when trying to find the level 8 dungeon in the Legend of Zelda. Who knew you had to burn a bush with the blue lantern?... or maybe it was the red one...

[citation][nom]deltatux[/nom]The point of gaming requires a level of hardness and this just promotes people for not even try and just let the game play itself.[/citation]
We'll have an entire generation of gamers who can't handle challenging games. The plus side is thats just that many more noobs to pwn when they hop on a competitive online game.
"What? No demo play mode online??"

The downside is:
"This game is too hard, turn on demo play!"
"It doesn't have demo play, Timmy, this is a real game."
"That's boring! I quit."

[citation]‘Demo play’ is just the tentative name for this feature[/citation]Maybe they should name it 'Noob Mode' instead.

[citation][nom]krazynutz[/nom]Here's an idea: How about "Demo Mode" just SHOWS you how to get past an area but then resets back to where you initiated it. It's still up to you to actually do it to proceed.Eh? EH?citation]
I'm actually OK with this idea. Show the player what to do, but then stick them back where they were.

While I would never use it because I love the challenges in mario, I have a 8 year old who plays games and frequently needs help to pass a particular section. This would be ideal for people like him!

if this feature gets implemented then game developers will put less effort into ensuring that the game has an appropriate difficulty ramp. This will result in games ending up much more ridiculously difficult, unfun, and frustrating when they are played without the cheat.

WOW.. Next version of Wii Fit i can watch as my high score goes up without doing any of the exercises. I can just watch my calories burn a way.

Kids these days. If the bar is too high we will just move it down for you. Oh, and parents too because they are the ones that allow these low standards.

this is a retarded dumb f--- idea , what the hell is the point in a game that does all the ahrd parts for you?

and just when i thought consoles were starting to bridge the difficulty gap on console vs pc game difficulty , then i read this.

some game i found closer to pc games in difficulty were

halo 3 (legendary ONLY , and even then its only touching the mid dif's of similar pc games)

Resident evil 5 , (again only toches the mid diffs of msot pc games)

Left 4 dead (go figure aside form pc's beter graphics the game is the same on console as it's pc counter part, oh and did i mention this is a pc game mainly too ?? does this one count you think ? )

Fallout 3 (both pc and console versions seem level in the difficulty when cranked to max, but again was also a pc game should it count ?)

aside from that most every console game i ahve tried ws a tad easier than most pc games but i can say on the average console game difficulty has caught up to pc's some , at least the diference is better than what it was 10 years ago, buyt still consoles still tend to be "lighter" on the ai/difficulty hence why for the most part i just play my various consoles when i feel like a light game i don't need to give much focus to.

[citation][nom]anamaniac[/nom]There are actually applications for this...Say Tomraider Underworld. I can't figure out how to get to the next area, even if I try for a half hour... Guess what? All I did was miss a small ledge... Would be easier to see with shadows off, but ha!I dislike cheating, and I try to go for a personal policy of cheating only after I have beaten the game.[/citation]

my thoughts exactly , usually i'll beat the game up and down the street on every difficulty before i try a single cheat . soem games i enver bother with cehats period (such as left 4 dead, if you see a Demon_horde_665 {DS} randomly log out of a l4d server after some goon activated a cheat .. well now you will know why)

I think this feature is not targeting the hardcore gamers, or the kids with loads of free time. This probably is aimed at older audiences that play casually and don't want to bother with searching on google or gamefaqs (well searching gamefaqs as easy enough as it is), buying a guide or even calling over a friend.

This may apply on instances wherein your reach a really difficult section of the game is the only actual difficult part of the game for the player. What if the difficult section only is around 10 seconds short? I doubt that you'd be able to google and read the content and do the trick in less than the 10 seconds you just needed to do the thing.

So now the really laser people can have the Wii play the game for them... wonder who'll play the whole game first?

Remember the in the movie WALL-E, in which the lazy fat people were having robots play tennis and golf for them!

What next... have the Wii unpack itself from the box?

I play games to have fun.
Really don't like the idea of having to make an effort for playing my games.

This is a neat feature.
(Especially for people who don't know what to do and get stuck!)

Interesting. By this standard of "playing" a game I've apparently already beaten every Wii game ever published without ever owning or playing a Wii system. I've just declared all other users to be my personal "demo mode".

[citation][nom]Anonymous[/nom]I think it's brilliant. As a 39 year old gamer who likes a challenging game but doesn't have time to master all the nuances and "special moves", I want to finish a game but without the hours of dedication it takes to master it. Sometimes you just hit a wall and it's helpful to see an example of how to get past it and then try it out. If I can't do it, I don't have the time with everything else going on to do it over and over till I get it. This will be a cool feature.[/citation]
I understand where you are coming from but what you are saaying you have no Point in Playing. Since you have no time or need to learn moves, Then get a easier game or do not play at all. That is the Reason they have Cheats to give the Player the power to pass a Particular Obstacle.....

[citation][nom]deltatux[/nom]The games would no longer be fun if you let the AI do it (unless the AI is just hilariously stupid). The point of gaming requires a level of hardness and this just promotes people for not even try and just let the game play itself.[/citation]
LOL, AI kills all of your lives and you have to Restart!!!!
