A fine review overall, most thorough. I am a professional photographer in NYC, many years of advertising and event shooting. Re the camera comparisons...in the shot of the macaroons on the platter, neither camera gets the White Balance correct, which does not surprise nor concern me. The S8 has a modest magenta skew, the Pixel has a green skew. Indoor light often requires manual Kelvin and tint (magenta/green) adjustment. Unfortunately the backlit "strong sun" comparison is not accurate. The Pixel shot was taken from a higher angle with less sun in view, as you can see in the side by side comparison. I suspect there is not much difference in identical backlit compositions.

The S8+ is the worst phone that I have ever owned for call quality. From the moment the call connection is made there is always an audable background hiss. Quite often there is a lot of distortion so it is difficult to work out what the other person is saying sometimes.

I compared this with another S8+ and it was the same. If this is not fixed next time it goes back for repair, I will replace it with something else.

I would not recommend this phone to anybody as a phone it is very poor, but if all you want is a toy with a flash screen and all the gizmos then go for it.

Its a wonderful phone no doubt, but here are some of my honest review which are not normally mentioned anywhere on different review sites.

1) Glass back is great until you realise it scratches easily and also cracks more easily than the front and you have your phone most of the time on its back.
2) Curved screen is great until you need to protect it with screen protectors and most don't fit or have issues fitting on the curve screen.
3) I have spent extra money on power banks, cases, screen protectors, rings etc jut to ensure and hope I wont crack the phone when it drops or run out of battery. I had a cheapo phone and didn't even care and battery lasted days and it still did most of the things S8 equally well at 1/10 th the price.
4) A super resolution screen but you don't want to enable it because on the back of your mind, you worry it will run out of battery quicker.
5) It got an Iris scanner, but then there is a warning not enable it for health reason and to keep it at a distance, what???? Then why have one ???
6) Why do you throw in Apps which we may not want and cant uninstall them? Samsung, you are not a small company that needs these apps for your revenue or do you?
7) Yes you know we don't like Bixby, but at least let the users be able to re-map it? Why the battle to ensure it can't be re-mapped? Didnt we pay for the phone?

It feels like a promoting Samsung S8 review rather than an honest 1. The battery life of 8hrs is a joke for normal usage only to be review as good, shift work is 12hrs. Worst still if you need to depend on an app to extend that puny duration most like by reducing performance on certain background. Screen looks undeniable nice, but aspect ratio is not proven on existing app. The camera photos looks decently good, but not till the exceptional level as written. Has this been compared with price ratio on another phone like huawei mate 10 pro? Don't think the price is not even worth mentioning "worth it".
