So, I didn't go to Joystiq to learn this was solved. Now, I am officially an ass But at least I was on the right track on my own, sigh....wasted time wasted time.
Looks to me like it is pretty certain this is a Singularity promo. From the communist ties in Richard Wright, to the references to an island in Francis Bacons "New Atlantis" it all falls into place.
link loaded almost instantly on my IE8... In the beginning it looks a bit like infinity ward logo on the tv... But it probally is fallout.. who cares anyway lol Anywone who hasnt seen it yet.. its really not worth it.. just a Flash 10 animation of a TV with a oscillisopce on top and lots of static and letters that no doubt someone wold like us to spend hours 'decrypting' so that we can advertise the game
If you TURN THE DIAL on the TV, you can see the animation clearly... And it shows a Uranium atom being struck by fissionable material, the type of chemical reaction NEEDED to create ATOMIC FISSION / FUSSION (atom bomb)...
Quite creepy. Then it shows a stadium being blown up by an atomic explosion, then planet Earth...
This is horrifying! LOL. Hope that helped someone.
Hmm.. The animation is about (surprise!) creating a nuclear weapon (and releasing it in a ... baseball field?). The beginning is an animation of Fission (splitting the atom, causing a chain reaction and a massive release of energy). I also remember seeing U-238 vs U-235. U235 is fissionable, whereas U-238 is not. I suppose I could decompile the flash file and see what it's all about. I could also hijack the audio and clean it up, making it easier to understand. Fallout, that would be nice. Although Duke Nukem would be a funny surprise.
Whoa, whoa, wait. If there was a separate audio file on the flash drive, then it might be a subtraction/addition cipher. Convert the letters to numbers (a=1, b=2), or perhaps something else. Then line them up and subtract. That might yield something interesting.
Half-life of Uranium is 703,800,000 years according to wikipedia.
Add together all the numbers and you get 18.
Half of that is 9.
In binary that is 101001111100110010001011000000.
Add those together and you get 13.
Long shot but maybe Monday 13 of September?
Could be a release date.

That's sounds like it is straight out of the "mystery of the urinal deuce"

Spaces were put in where there were pauses. :mod novas is novasixnovasixnovasixnovasixnova hell is purple If you look up Hell is Purple on Google, it takes you to purplehell.com, a "one stop shop for riddle tools and resources".The page provides cipher tools to decrypt messages. So I imagine the answer lies there. Good luck.[/citation]
I tried they're tools... and so far I've gotten "A N B O Y L E Q 3 R W P" out of using them... i'm too confused.
