You have to factor in the "playing with friends and family" factor for consoles. PC gaming is fine if it's just you, which is arguably the best way to play most games. But if you want to sit with three mates on a sofa and play on the living-room TV, consoles are the way to go. Consoles are so cheap these days that - unless a gamer is on minimum wage or without the intelligence to run and maintain a PC - then they'll have a console _and_ a gaming PC.
