Gaming budget laptop: which one is better: the Asus FX502VM or the Lenovo Y520?

Hello! Black Friday nears and I am trying to replace my old laptop with something powerful and durable, but I got stuck between the Asus FX502 or the Lenovo Y520. I found both of them in my country at 1150$ (though the price will probably change by the 24th of November) and with the exact same specs (i7 7700HQ, GTX 1060 3gb, 8gb RAM).
I should mention that my current machine deteriorated because of thermal shutdowns and other minor cooling problems (now, after 4 years half of its keyboard is burned, but I cant say I took good care of the vents either) and I worry a lot for my next purchase s temp. I will use the laptop mostly for gaming and digital painting and because of that the screens of the laptops make me second guess my choices (but my actual one is a bleeding, glaring TFT that I hook up to my TV so even a bad IPS is a great change). For this reason I wanted to go with the cheaper ROG GL553VE, but that has only a 1050TI and I dont want to change my laptops often because they stop being able to run games even at low, but I have heard better things about 553s build (and i really like the ROG logo ).
My problem is that I cant deduce which one of those 2 laptops has a better build or cooling system, audio (not that I care so much since I mostly use my headphones) etc. Which one will remain cooler? Another thing: I find the Lenovo case ugly and I am skeptical of the Asus as it is not included in the ROG family, although it is a 502 model (which makes me think that the company cut corners so much that they are not proud of the product, but maybe that is just me) and I do not have any experience with any of those producers. I have heard a lot of complains about both of them but I cannot know for sure which of those are hyperbolas made by pretentious people, or if the problems are not because of the manufacturer, but distributor.
So which one do you think is better? What problems have you encountered with any of these and for how long did you owned them? (if it is the case). Also, do you have better alternatives?
PS: I know a desktop PC is better, but I need portability.

If they have the same specs then you should expect a very similar experience

go with whatever you like the most personally, it's all about personal preference

hey i can answer your ques hope u didnt buy it. i have been looking for 2 years. budget was a thing i finally gave up on my older hp amd a8 processor and came down to the best laptop for the money. it came down to 3 brands that took the stage with performance,quality, and budget, that was asus acer and lenovo and i can add DELL. so at the time dell was behind but now they have updated it but i was looking for minimum 1050 ti since i also want to game so i needed the best. dell was more expensive and acer was good too but the asus i bought it and returned it due to the battery life and 1050 and not to mention the build quality, very poor bends in the back looks cool but had to return it. For 1300 CAD on sale lenovo legion y520 was the best bang for the buck.
LENOVO has taken the throne for 2017 best laptop in reviews,service,quality,performance and money and this legion y520 had a 1060 3gb max q with all maxed out including 128gb ssd. everything in this laptop is amazing from the build quality,looks,speakers,red backlit keyboard,nvidia 1060,screen ,battery life is decent still average browsing 4 hours and 1 to 1 n half hour gaming which is decent amazing thermal system dual fan with extreme cooling mode too and not to mention its vr ready so it will be virtual reality compatible.got it give it hands down to this laptop better than the base alienware. very satisfied with my purchase for under 1500.

Thanks for the answer! Fortunately I haven't bought it yet, but I think I will get a Strix GL703 scar. It is more expensive than the others, but it has more VRAM, better screen, build, aura keyboard, all that jazz.
