3. What screen resolution do you want?
Prefer something above 1366x768

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Desktop replacements but needs to be somewhat light (no asus G series laptops)

5. How much battery life do you need?
4 hours or more

6. Games?
I will play games on this laptop, probrably skyrim, bf3, sc2 and need for speed the run preferably on medium or higher.
I was thinking that a 555m would be neccesary but prefer me if i'm wrong

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) General web browsing and downloading.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
500GB or more

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
Not really sure, suggestions would be nice

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
Around 3 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
None absolutley needed, would be nice to have a Bluray

Asus and Lenovo are nice, open to other suggestions.

No Hp or Dell though, already had too much broken laptops from them

I was also looking at the lenovo y570, possibly refurbrished. Any opinions?

Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 Core i5 & GT 555M $CAD703

i7-2670QM and Blu-Ray equipped for $919.
But I'd suggest the $703 model and buying an external BluRay player.

The GPU ranking of the 460m is quite a bit higher than the 555m

You really want a least a 560m for gaming.

Unfortunately on newegg, the only laptop with a 560m under $1000 is a 17.3" model. TOSHIBA Qosmio X775-Q7380

The cheapest 15.6" would be this Asus ASUS G53SX-NH71 at $1200. (But CAD prices might be a little better?)

A 560m is basically the minimum you want for decent laptop gaming performance though, whether you go with one of those models or find something else. It's basically the equivalent of an under-clocked 550ti desktop card. The 555m is actually a fairly significant step down in performance from that.

GTX 460M is nice. The 90 day warranty should be a bit scary on a used gaming notebook.
