Gaming Laptop Under $1000 spec. for Sims 3

I'm trying to find an affordable laptop that can play all of the Sims expansions and a few stuff packs smoothly. I've been looking at laptops with i7 processors and NVIDIA gt730 or gt 640 graphic cards. Would an Acer be a good choice? If not, an suggestions?

I strongly suggest the Lenovo Y500 (15.6") or Y400(14").

They are pretty much unrivaled in their price range for the specs and quality.

the Y500 looks good - all you need to do is get a 250GB SSD and you'll be golden

however, I would stick with Windows 7

Originally, I was going to get the Y500, but Lenovo's poor customer service reviews shied me away from the company. Why did you chose the Y400?

From what I gather the Sims 3 is not particularly demanding. It uses either 1 or 2 cores. Posts that i have seen seems to contract each other regarding core usage. It definitely does not use 3 or more cores so if you were considering a quad core i7 CPU, then simply drop down to an i5 to save money.

The nVidia GT 640m should be fine, I am not up-to-date with nVidia'd GT 7xx series.

I wanted something very portable that could also game well. It was hard to pass up the specs for the price ($750) when I got mine. It really is a great quality laptop. It looks and feels like it should be more in the $1200 price range.

There really isn't anything in the 14" range that comes close to it in gaming, at least not under $1500. Plus there is always the option of adding the second video card for SLI using the Ultrabay. I haven't needed it so far as I have been able to overclock the 650m by 25% giving better performance than a 660m.

I can't comment on Lenovo customer service as I haven't needed it, but customer service is bad no matter what company you go with.
