The only laptop I've had is acer, and that constantly overheated. So I'd stay away from acer.

Portable gaming laptops is an orthodox (the smaller it is, the less potential it has). Gaming laptops are meant to be a desktop replacement with their 17 inch 1080p monitors, but try these.

By portable I meant that I won't be using it at home much. When I go to college for example, I'd like to be able play games during break. Or during trips.

There you can compare how a bunch of laptops perform in different games, compare their battery life, etc.



By the way, I'm really curious how people can play proper games on laptops, on a break in school or on a trip or outdoors or with lots of loud people around or without a mouse. I don't even like to have the TV on while gaming, let alone people around or God forbid sunlight!

There's a silent zone in my college where people with computers can go where there's no talking aloud. The lights are dimmed which is a nice addition.

I'd actually go for the MSI laptop in your case, to save money and have a longer lasting battery.

Unfortunately the battery life benchmarks do not measure battery life while playing games for those who are interested in playing game while not plugged in. Not surprisingly play games on a laptop will quickly drain the battery.

My Lenovo Y470 is rated for a maximum of 4 hours of battery life under typical non-gaming conditions. Based on 8 timed tests which I timed while surfing, typing, and watching some Youtube videos, the shortest measured battery life was 3 hours and 35 minutes, the longest was 4 hours and 12 minutes (no Youtube and very little surfing). While testing Crysis the longest I was able to play the game was 57 minutes.
